3 carrots, chopped
3 ribs of celery, chopped
3 large potatoes, chopped
1 1/2 C onions, chopped
3 cloves garlic, chopped
1 bay leaf
1 1/2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp thyme
1 tsp basil
1/2 tsp pepper
2 pounds lean beef stew meat, cut into 1 inch pieces
3 cups water
4 beef bouillon cubes
Layer ingredients in the following order: carrots, celery, potatoes, onions, garlic, bay leaf, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, basil, pepper, beef, water and bouillon.
Cover and cook on low for 8-9 hours. Stir well and thicken with flour and water. (Freezes well when made without potatoes.)
